From start to finish, Lisa went above and beyond to guide me through the process, staying professional and supportive, even with the unexpected delays. I truly believe the sale wouldn’t have completed without her efforts. Lisa’s communication was excellent, keeping me informed at every stage. I’m so grateful for all her help and would highly recommend her and the team.
26th Jun 2026 (6 weeks ago)We have purchased two properties through this estate agent (with one purchase still ongoing) and unfortunately the experience has been disappointing!<br>Communication within the office staff has been very poor, and it often felt like staff were not communicating with each other. When our solicitors experienced delays, we were repeatedly threatened that the properties ( both of them) would be put back on the market, despite this never actually happening! This created unnecessary stress during an already demanding process.<br><br>In addition, both surveying companies we used commented on the difficulties they had communicating with this estate agent, which suggests our experience was not an isolated one.<br><br>While we appreciate that an estate agent acts on behalf of the seller, we felt there was very little effort to facilitate the process for the buyer or keep everyone informed. Overall, the lack of communication and the way issues were handled made what should have been an exciting experience far more frustrating than it needed to be.

1st Oct 2024 (1 year ago)Would recommend the team here. They were patient, responsive to my needs and very professional. Julie Burdett and Nicola Clegg were particularly helpful with my transaction and supported well by Julie Gomersall when Nicola went on maternity leave. Claire Midgley was also great as a post sale progressor. Despite us and our sellers doing a lot of the communicating directly (through our sellers choice) she was very helpful, attentive, efficient and knowledgeable when I needed her. All round a great personal service and I have recommended them to a number of friends, family and colleagues.

There were quite a few complications along the way, but Maddie handled everything professionally, kept us updated, and was always there to help and reassure us. Her support genuinely made a stressful situation much easier. Thank you again — we would highly recommend Reeds Rains!

During all this time Lorna has always been extremely helpful and knowledgable guiding me in the right direction. When I sold my rental property it came with many problems which Lorna overcame with hard work and good advice. Her communication was always first class. I would highly recommend as her work ethic is second to none

Estimate, photos, on the market, viewings and then sold all within 5 days, you couldn’t ask for more! Throughout the whole process there was excellent communication, updates and they were only an email or call away. Thank you so much, we couldn’t recommend you enough! ??????
14th Jul 2026 (21 days ago)Absolutely appalling experience – avoid Connells if you value honesty and transparency.<br><br>My experience with Connells has been nothing short of a nightmare. I feel completely misled, trapped, and let down from start to finish.<br><br>When Jon came to value my property, he never clearly explained that by signing the paperwork I was committing myself to a 26-week sole agency agreement. Instead, I was rushed through the documents and repeatedly told it was simply their “standard procedure.” At no point was the significance of being tied exclusively to Connells for six months properly brought to my attention.<br><br>If Jon had been transparent and clearly explained that I would be locked into a 26-week contract regardless of whether Connells performed or not, I would never have signed it.<br><br>Once the agreement was signed, the service was incredibly disappointing.<br><br>Over the course of the agreement, Connells completely failed to sell my property. They repeatedly brought viewers who were clearly not in a genuine position to buy. Some didn’t have suitable employment contracts to obtain a mortgage, others hadn’t even sold their own properties, and many simply appeared to be wasting everyone’s time. It felt like they were more interested in increasing viewing numbers than actually finding a qualified buyer.<br><br>The communication was equally poor. After almost every viewing, I had to chase Connells for feedback. Rather than keeping me informed as you would expect from a professional estate agent, I was constantly left waiting, calling and emailing just to find out what had happened. It was exhausting and incredibly frustrating.<br><br>As weeks turned into months with absolutely no progress, I felt completely helpless. I had lost all confidence in Connells’ ability to sell my property, yet because of the 26-week sole agency agreement, I couldn’t simply instruct another estate agent without potentially facing financial consequences. I felt trapped in a contract with a company that was delivering little in return.<br><br>To make matters worse, when I raised my concerns, Connells showed no willingness to acknowledge how the agreement had been presented to me. Instead, they simply hid behind the small print of the contract and insisted that because I had signed it, I was bound by the 26-week term. There was no accountability, no understanding, and certainly no attempt to resolve the situation fairly.<br><br>Looking back, I genuinely believe the emphasis was placed on getting my signature rather than ensuring I fully understood the long-term commitment I was making. Being told something is “standard procedure” should never replace giving a customer a clear explanation of a six-month contractual obligation.<br><br>The whole experience caused unnecessary stress and wasted months of valuable time during which my property could have been marketed by a more competent and proactive agent.<br><br>If you’re considering using Connells, my advice is simple: be extremely careful. Read every single word of the agreement, ask direct questions about any sole agency period, and don’t let yourself be rushed into signing anything. Once you’ve signed, you may find yourself locked into months of poor service with very little you can do about it.<br><br>I would never use Connells again and would not recommend them to anyone looking for an honest, transparent, and customer-focused estate agent. My experience was overwhelmingly negative from beginning to end.
25th Mar 2026 (19 weeks ago)Update: Maybe I left a low score review because I experienced extremely poor service from your Stafford branch & maybe I didn't leave any comments because I didn't want any further contact as I gave you plenty of opportunities at the time to resolve any issues which you failed to do. Thank you for taking the time to reply but looking at your previous responses to other disgruntled customers, you appear to be not the best at taking criticism nor accepting poor performance on your part. Good day to you.
4th Mar 2026 (22 weeks ago)I had mixed personal reviews prior to my contacting Dourish and Day but I will NOT using them to sell my property as I'm appalled at the "it's not my job" attitude. I will be contacting the estate agency that sold my parents bungalow as they were proactive and cheaper fees! They refused to let myself, or my property agency, know the date/times of Dourish and Day availability for a valuation so an appointment could be arranged with my tenant. They also refused to make ONE phone call and contact the tenant directly as Dourish and Day had misunderstood what my tenant had said upon initial contact. My agent informed me that they have tried making contact but are awaiting a response from Dourish and Day which Dourish and Day have denied. When I requested an update this is the response "We will not move forward until they call us with the tenants availability for us to attend as it is their responsibility to clear things with them."

18th Mar 2024 (2 years ago)DO NOT SELL YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THIS COMPANY! READ THE SMALL PRINT This company are extremely aggressive and unprofessional. We advertised a business with them, paid an huge fee to advertise. Later after terminating, we agreed investment (not even a sale) from an investor we met directly, who was never introduced by Hilton Smythe. After accepting investment after terminating with Hilton Smythe they demanded their commission!! Totally unreasonable given it was after termination and the person who invested in our business was never known to or introduced by Hilton Smythe! They are now behaving aggressively and threatening legal action. We in turn have reported them to the ombudsman and trading standards. They are snake oil salesmen. DO NOT DEAL!- 29th May 2026 (10 weeks ago)Claire, Claire, Claire… what can we say? Claire Midgley was our rock throughout a very long and difficult conveyancing process. Working in the industry myself, I can certainly recognise a special agent when I see one and she certainly is a true credit to Dourish & Day. She listened to me rant (probably like a broken record at times) , offered advice and promised me she would chase and subsequently update me… and true to her word she was every single time!! To get the good news call from her personally today was the icing on the cake for me & my partner. Thank you so much Claire for all your help throughout, we appreciate you hugely ??????

17th Jul 2026 (18 days ago)I used to let my property through this agency under their full management service. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.<br>Naomi never managed the property properly and gave me a lot of incorrect information. If you tried to call the office, she would rarely answer the phone or return calls.<br>When I decided to end my contract, she aggressively tried to charge me additional fees because the tenant wanted to remain in the property, claiming that she had found the tenant.<br>I am so glad I switched to a different agency and have been with them ever since. She also never returned my property keys.<br>She comes across as nice at first, but in my experience, I would be very cautious. I found her to be unprofessional, and I would advise others to avoid this agency if possible.

18th Jul 2026 (17 days ago)I am very disappointed with how this purchase was handled.<br><br>It became clear that your focus was largely on the seller’s interests rather than ensuring a fair and transparent process. While I understand your role, there is still an expectation of honest and professional negotiation.<br><br>The property required significant work, yet our attempts to negotiate based on its condition were dismissed without meaningful discussion. Instead of acting as an intermediary, it felt as though unrealistic expectations were being reinforced.<br><br>We invested considerable time, money, and emotion, but our concerns about the property’s condition and associated risks were not taken seriously.<br><br>Overall, the experience lacked transparency and fairness, and it was difficult to feel that our position was properly represented. I would struggle to recommend your agency and hope future buyers receive a more balanced and honest service.
