Always responsive to emails and keeping me updated on the process. I'd recommend them if you're like me a first time buyer. Thanks guys.
30th Jan 2024 (12 weeks ago)Had the absolute worst experience with Sutton Kersh - avoid!! I was purchasing my first house through them and it took around 28 weeks to get the keys from when my offer was accepted. I felt like I constantly had to chase them and was never given an update, I feel like I was always having to offer up potential solutions, the manager was always condescending probably because I’m young/a first time buyer. I was consistently told “it’s just a lengthy process” and 26 weeks into the sale the manager told me “there’s nothing anyone in this office can do for you” - even though at this point the seller and their solicitor had made the case a priority as it has been going on for so long. Once I was told to wait till the end of the week for an update, called back and the manager simply said “no, nothing in the inbox” and I had to ask if she was going to do anything about it or if she was just going to sit and wait potentially several more weeks for a response, she wasn’t very willing to help unless pressed and I feel like her attitude and overall level of service were shockingly bad, I couldn’t believe that she was the manager. After the sale, the seller was reimbursing something their solicitor was meant to pay for but mine charged me for, I sent an email about this to ask them to contact the seller and I never heard back, they didn’t care once the sale was through. However, on the other hand, months into the sale my case was handed over to Mary Kate and she was amazing, her personally I would give 5 stars to. I called so many times and sent so many emails and she was always happy to help and seems like she actually did her job in chasing the seller and trying to get the sale through, rather than just sitting back waiting for a response and hoping something would change. She never made me feel like I was being unreasonable by calling for an update and never minimised the situation, in all honestly think she would be a much better manager.

She’s been fantastic with helping us secure the property we wanted. Providing so much information and knowledge with both our viewings of the property. She really knew what it was we were after and made what was a stressful situation for us feel a lot easier. She really is a credit to the company.
2nd Mar 2024 (8 weeks ago)Avoid this company like the plague, in particular the Crewe branch. I had a truly awful experience with these so called professionals who went out of their way, with the landlord, to take nearly £2.5k from me for a property I "tried" to rent. The issue began the day I registered the address for my water usage PRIOR to moving in. This alerted the water company that someone was going to be at the property. I received a call from the supplier which was very direct and to the point, stating that the property had a leak which was losing 500 litres a day, they had tried to contact the landlord but had no response and that as I was now the tenant it was my responsibility to pay for and sort. After alot of frantic phone calls with the waterboard it turns out Leaders (and the Landlord) were fully aware of this issue prior to me signing the tenancy agreement but did not disclose this information to me. I had the keys to the property but refused to move in until this issue was sorted by the landlord, via Leaders. This issue went on for over 3 months. Every few days I followed up I was told by Leaders we can't get hold of the Landlord but I still anticipated to move in imminently and kept the keys expecting to do so not knowing this would go on for months.... this would later be used against me by Leaders and cost me thousands. After over 3 months of constant excuses about not being able to get hold of the Landlord, Leaders, at first, agreed this issue was known about by both parties, prior to me signing any agreement and supported the fact that I'd be rented the property misleadingly the explanation being "we thought the issue had been fixed" There whole attitude then changed when apparently there had been a huge mistake and in fact there was no leak, and because I'd kept hold of the keys I had to pay all the rent up to that point. As you can imagine I was very angry to say the least all I wanted to do is rent a property!! I was then led down a garden path by Leaders saying they would do everything for me to sort out but in fact did nothing and lied to me. At this point I had had enough and said I didn't want to move into the property, it was at this point when I returned the keys, demands for rent were made. After alot of back and forth Leaders told me the landlord was happy for me to step away (that was good of them!!!) As long as I paid the remarketing cost for the property of £500 and I would get my first month's rent and deposit back. I stupidly agreed to this and guess what I never received anything back and Leaders have recently, 14 months on, started chasing me for unpaid rent!! I set foot in the property once and it costs me financially and even more so mentally. A truly disgusting company who anablled a landlords to hide away and do nothing and then take my money. Please avoid so you do not get an experience like mine! Que, copy and paste response.

I contacted several estate agents and Stephenson Brown just seemed more genuine. We needed the agent to manage the property as we no longer live in the area. From our first contact with Sarah all the staff we have spoke to Sharon, Heather and Pam have been great. Nothing seems to much trouble and they are always willing to help in any way. We were a little sceptical at first dealing with an estate agent as we have had in the past a bad experience with another agent who promised the earth but did absolutely nothing. Stephenson Brown lined up tenants and vetted them to worm out time wasters as well as doing background checks. They showed the tenants around and reported back to us how everything was going. We needed to get some trees cut lower in the rear garden and Sarah went to the property to take pictures for us so we could see what the workers had done. Going forward we just hope all goes well working with the agent. So if you are looking for an agent who is up front and honest and who does what it says on the tin, then dont look any further. There costs are good also.

18th Mar 2024 (6 weeks ago)DO NOT SELL YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THIS COMPANY! READ THE SMALL PRINT This company are extremely aggressive and unprofessional. We advertised a business with them, paid an huge fee to advertise. Later after terminating, we agreed investment (not even a sale) from an investor we met directly, who was never introduced by Hilton Smythe. After accepting investment after terminating with Hilton Smythe they demanded their commission!! Totally unreasonable given it was after termination and the person who invested in our business was never known to or introduced by Hilton Smythe! They are now behaving aggressively and threatening legal action. We in turn have reported them to the ombudsman and trading standards. They are snake oil salesmen. DO NOT DEAL!
