Savills took on the responsibility of selling our house during probably the most difficult year ever. First Brexit and then Covid; it was a tough time for everybody and obviously not the perfect time for selling your home. However, with Savills national infrastructure and the professionalism of their staff things went smoothy and a sale at the expected price was achieved. The service here is superb. Professional throughout, informative, knowledgeable and covid safety show around and service levels were brilliantly adhered to. Met with manager Stefano on a viewing and its clear to see why they have such a great reputation in the area. Purchased with them and will sell with them when the time is right. Absolutely awful service!! The most terrible lawyers i have had to deal with EVER!! Basically they take your money and do the bare minimum to justify the extortionate prices they charge. Any questions i had, i was fobbed off, it took them a whole year to tell me that the money i was owed , wasn't owed to me at all and had been included in final invoice. This was after many phone calls, many visits to the office and finally, me threatening to take alternative legal advice! My advice would be to go elsewhere for your conveyancing, anywhere would be better than this bunch of incompetent idiots! Also the actual estate agency side of this business is no better. They are all over you when they want your home to sell, and nowhere to be found when they have your property to sell! Do yourself a favour and find an estate agent who will actually do some work for the money!! And note... They only respond to feedback that gives them praise, again, nowhere to be seen when they cause problems. Ocean Estate agents and Ocean Property Lawyers... YOU SUCK!!!... Read more

We were really struggling to find a place in Bristol and Hollie was absolutely determined to help us!! From the first viewing she was the most helpful, personable and friendly estate agent we'd come across. She proved herself to be incredibly efficient and a true problem solver when we came up against all sorts of problems with our finances (mainly as I hadn't yet started my job.) My partner and I couldn't thank her enough for all her help, and we're happily settled into our lovely flat. It has been over a month since I have left the property I have been renting for a year and I still have not received my deposit back. I called several times to chase this, and spoke with Sophia. Every time I called, I found her to be most unhelpful, saying every time that the landlord has not replied to her emails regarding my deposit. I find it baffling that you are very eager to take my money in the first place, but seem reluctant to give it back afterwards or put the appropriate measures in place to retrieve my deposit after I have left the property. The property has subsequently been let out since, so must be deemed in a habitable condition. I have received no advice from any of their stuff how I can get my deposit back. I had to called My Deposits to get advice and I have been told that the only option is to raise a dispute. I have wasted over a month in dealing with this matter and chasing this. Would not recommend anyone to rent anything from this agency.... Read more

Me and my partner viewed a property to let today. We were advised to let Kate know our outcome by the end of play today. With all agencies you find they give you this time in order to put offers from yourself and others forward to the landlord and then they choose who they would like to live at the property. After around an hour of the viewing I requested to put an offer in on the property which was also above asking price. I was then advised it was to late as Kate had already accepted an offer from someone else and put that forward to the landlord which had been accepted. I feel at least a courtesy call would have been nice since we had then cancelled further viewings as we wanted to go ahead on this house. As we could see people were waiting to go into the house we felt it would be best being a couple to go home and talk about the property, where you would see your stuff going, what date you could offer to move, and what flexibility you could have on price. Kate suggested this seemed a good idea to as you need to see yourself living somewhere before you decided to go ahead. Clearly this was not the case. Very disappointed to say the least, wouldn’t recommend to anyone as the information was very misleading... would hate to be in a position of buying a property with them is this is the professionalism shown.... Under no circumstances sell your business with Hilton Smythe. We made the unfortunate decision to sign a six month contract with them back in February this year to sell our shop. A valuer visited us and told us that if we paid so much upfront, they'd be no more fee's to pay and if the shop wasn't sold within six months we could simply pull it off the market or go with someone else. It was originally marketed and valued at £50,000. Initially we had a lot of interest and a sale looked likely. Then lockdown happened three weeks into the shop being advertised and all went quiet until late July, early August. Barely anything from Hilton Smythe. This we had expected due to the circumstances. In the meantime, the shop has been open and trading extremely well. Then come early August, we start being messed around by the agent. Suddenly and without any warning another agent has taken over and is arranging viewings with people who are not properly vetted. We're let down at the last minute by people who don't show up. We then reduce the price of our business in an effort to sell quicker, even then the agents kept calling with offer's well below the new asking price and when we turned them all down, we were made to feel like we're the ones being unreasonable and as though we should just accept any offer. Low and behold, we have decided to take our business off the market. Our contract ran out on August 2nd, therefore we are now out of contract. But... Hilton Smythe have stated that we have to give them six weeks notice for them to take our business off the market and in this time, we must accept viewings else we are liable for a fee of almost £3,000! We only received an actual copy of our contract, the day we gave Hilton Smythe our notice, which was two days ago. Yesterday, emails were flying back and forth between Myself and the agency over yet another no show. Hilton Smythe have become bullies and will stoop to any depths. They're not on the sellers side, the very people paying them and they will send anyone, unvetted, to waste your time on the promise of a sale. No matter how hard you try to get out of it, they will use 'the contract' against you. Do expect a level of stress that will drive you to the brink of a nervous breakdown and if you have a decent business, expect it to be adversely affected by bogus buyers phoning them and then you being forced into showing such people around! I urge anyone thinking of selling a business, go elsewhere. I wish I had seen some of these reviews back in February.... Read more
