We unfortunately chose Balgores Hayes Brentwood to manage our property when moving overseas. The property management service used to be 'managed' in their Brentwood Office and is now 'managed' through their Dagenham office. When the property was 'managed' through Brentwood the service was pretty bad and the tenants complained about their lack of attention and not responding to issues. After they moved property management to Dagenham it got even worse we now have a range of issues that nightmares are made of. We don't usually complain about services but they are sooooo bad it is impossible not to. We like to be positive and the one positive thing I can think of is that they seemed very nice and responsive when we originally signed the contracts and at the time we 100% believed that they would provide a good service. It went downhill from there ...... Note we have friends that have also used Balgores Hayes to 'manage' investment properties and unfortunately they have had bad experiences with them too so unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a one-off.... We have used CDC on a number of occasions to both sell and rent houses. We have always been impressed with their professionalism and their knowledge of the housing market. We were particularly impressed by their use and knowledge of Rightmove in order to maximise viewings, it’s not just wack it on there and it sells. Estate Agents have historically been given a bad name but in our experience all at CDC have been helpful throughout the process, including updating us more than our solicitors about the progress of the chain! If you want an agent that will be honest, proactive and efficient then CDC it is, we’d always use them.... Read more

I really did not want to write a negative review about a fellow Chelmsford company, especially in the current climate we are in. However, having given Charles David Casson the benefit of the doubt for 9 months, i have again today been fobbed off with a response, 'we will get back to you'. I completed work for Charles David Casson last year, and I'm yet to be paid for it. As a company, we have emailed frequently, spoken to Daniella personally and via email. My email address has now been blocked from both the general email address and the personal one from Daniella. We were advised that they paid a company with a very similar company name, but I still don't understand how this treatment to us can be justified in any way shape or form. We shouldn't have to pay the price for an internal fault. I would urge people to steer clear from this company that refuses to pay outstanding invoices to other companies that have completed work, as i believe this to be a reflection on the people that run this company.... From start to finish it was a very smooth process! Steve conducted the viewing which was socially distanced due to coronavirus which was no problem, to him then keeping me updated on the whole process and through to Juliet dealing with the paperwork and handing the keys over. When we left the way in which we were treated and accused of doing stuff to the property in particular by the assistant manager Juliet was not acceptable. They need proceeded to make it hard work for us to get our money back and has caused both me and my fiancee a lot of stress and frustration. They were quick enough to take our money but then may it EXTREMELY difficult to get it back which is led to a complaint being sent now. DO NOT EVER RENT FROM THEM IF YOU WANT YOUR DEPOSIT BACK AND NOT HAVE TO WAIT 5 WEEKS LIKE WE HAVE DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THEM AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS DIABOLICAL Paul S... Read more

I went to H.S Properties to find an apartment for rent and I have to say I received not just good service but much more than that. Good people, patient, kind and sensitive to my every need. The manager, Steven, helped me with the paperwork and explained to me kindly everything I should know and I really felt safe with him and with his contract. We would strongly warn anyone off these people for multiple reasons. Their marketing was always lacklustre but we also had a missed appointment from a member of staff and sulleness from Michaela. We had never even heard of the manager until we saw that an agent had let viewers go into our house unaccompanied while she stood outside idle. Andy maintained she was following Covid guidelines but we were never advised of this beforehand and there is of course no way we would have agreed to letting strangers roam free in our lovely home. We were given no apology, in fact Michaela was unpleasant and moody on the phone ('because it was her day off'!) but Andy is clearly a person who cannot let things go and gets easily riled and pitifully petty when challenged on his company's practices. I don't think he was keeping much of an eye on proceedings, though claimed his employees don't lie to him despite the fact that there were contradictions in stories so lies were told somewhere without doubt. He will surely reply to these comments with nonsense arguments and irrelevancies as he has already done with us and has done to every criticism already raised on here. It's best to ignore a personality like that, as we have been doing. Please avoid these people, there are plenty of decent estate agents in Brentwood who get results. Under no circumstances sell your business with Hilton Smythe. We made the unfortunate decision to sign a six month contract with them back in February this year to sell our shop. A valuer visited us and told us that if we paid so much upfront, they'd be no more fee's to pay and if the shop wasn't sold within six months we could simply pull it off the market or go with someone else. It was originally marketed and valued at £50,000. Initially we had a lot of interest and a sale looked likely. Then lockdown happened three weeks into the shop being advertised and all went quiet until late July, early August. Barely anything from Hilton Smythe. This we had expected due to the circumstances. In the meantime, the shop has been open and trading extremely well. Then come early August, we start being messed around by the agent. Suddenly and without any warning another agent has taken over and is arranging viewings with people who are not properly vetted. We're let down at the last minute by people who don't show up. We then reduce the price of our business in an effort to sell quicker, even then the agents kept calling with offer's well below the new asking price and when we turned them all down, we were made to feel like we're the ones being unreasonable and as though we should just accept any offer. Low and behold, we have decided to take our business off the market. Our contract ran out on August 2nd, therefore we are now out of contract. But... Hilton Smythe have stated that we have to give them six weeks notice for them to take our business off the market and in this time, we must accept viewings else we are liable for a fee of almost £3,000! We only received an actual copy of our contract, the day we gave Hilton Smythe our notice, which was two days ago. Yesterday, emails were flying back and forth between Myself and the agency over yet another no show. Hilton Smythe have become bullies and will stoop to any depths. They're not on the sellers side, the very people paying them and they will send anyone, unvetted, to waste your time on the promise of a sale. No matter how hard you try to get out of it, they will use 'the contract' against you. Do expect a level of stress that will drive you to the brink of a nervous breakdown and if you have a decent business, expect it to be adversely affected by bogus buyers phoning them and then you being forced into showing such people around! I urge anyone thinking of selling a business, go elsewhere. I wish I had seen some of these reviews back in February.... Read more
