1st Mar 2024 (11 weeks ago)We've visited a property to let with John D Wood. We liked the property, and sent an offer. Offer accepted. So we paid the holding deposit. We went through the referencing, very long and time consuming. It took 15 days to have a feedback. And the feedback was : we can't reference you because your tax returns were from France, not from the UK. The letting agent offered us to pay all the rents (18 months) upfront, to skip the reference. We obviously refused. And we started panicking, because our move out date from our current property was approaching... We quickly visited other properties. We found a house to let through another letting agency. The referencing took literally 2 days, and we had no issues (they accepted tax returns from France). Luckily, we have been able to find house to let in time. John D Wood came back to us, in the meanwhile, saying that the landlord had finally accepted to rent us his property, even if our tax returns were from France. But it was too late. We had already found another house. But John D Wood is refusing to reimburse our holding deposit, because they say that it's our decision not to let this house and that our offer was accepted by the landlord. So we now have to enter into a legal fight. I would highly recommend NOT to work with John D Wood.

In recent times we have had a need to make use of the services on a complicated transaction and were very impressed by the professional way the matter was handled. 19th May 2022 (1 year ago)We’re first time buyers and John D Wood were selling the home we were buying. We were shown our new home by George who was lovely. Julian in the team managed everything else, and the man is a saint. I was stressed to say the least between work and trying to buy a house in a short timeframe. No matter how testy I got, he was patient, friendly and supportive. I can’t speak highly enough of Julian, and when we eventually sell in the future he’ll be the first person we go to. Julian thank you so much for your amazing service.

18th Mar 2024 (9 weeks ago)I've had some good and some bad experiences throughout my 1.5-year tenancy at a flat managed by Chesterons. Unfortunately it ended pretty poorly. Despite having handed over the keys at the end of January 2024, they have yet to complete the end-of-tenancy procedures and have been extremely unresponsive to email.

Anna was supportive, helpful and went above and beyond in helping us with the paperwork, viewings and even in our final move. Such a positive experience for us and would highly recommend them when it comes to finding your new home!
16th Apr 2024 (4 weeks ago)I recently had an experience with Acton vale branch of Farrell Lewis , that was less than satisfactory. Despite the extensive listings advertised online, when I approached the agent in person, I was informed that no apartments were available. Instead of providing assistance, the agent requested my phone number, promising a call back that never came. Moreover, I felt judged based on my origin, which is highly unprofessional and inappropriate for any business, especially one in the service industry. An agent’s role is to assist potential clients with courtesy and respect, regardless of their background. In conclusion, the lack of professionalism and the judgmental attitude of the agent at Farrel Lewis ,disappointing. It’s crucial for a property agency to offer reliable service and treat all clients equally, and unfortunately, that was not my experience.

1st Mar 2024 (11 weeks ago)We just finished working with Louise Jones and her team (primarily Michelle and Laura) on the sale of our terraced house in Chiswick. We interviewed a lot of local agencies, and we can confidently say that we really made the right decision— they were simply incredible. We were moving abroad on a tight timeline and were by no means the easiest clients; and we had quite a lot of other factors that had to be taken into account. Louise’s valuation of the house was exponentially higher than other firms and because Horton & Garton worked to identify the right kinds of buyers, we had three offers (two well over ask) within three days of being on the market. H&G treat each property as a bespoke sale and it really shows— not to mention the fact that they’re really communicative, friendly and warm people; just an all around pleasure to work with. Louise had previously set the record price for a terraced house on our street last year when she sold our neighbour's house— and now she’s broken her own record!

Winnie at Circa EC2 helped me with putting an offer in for a property and getting terms and requests approved with the landlord in a very communicative way that advocated for me as a prospective tenant as much as for the landlord, something all too rare in the London market. I would highly recommend Circa to anyone searching for a flat in London over any other letting agent I have used.
