3rd Oct 2026 (30 days ago)Avoid - unprofessional and deceptive pressure tactics.<br><br>Very unpleasant experience with James Gough. Relieved we pulled out at an early stage, especially as first time buyers. We got the distinct impression that we could be taken advantage of.<br><br>We found a nice house which met our requirements earlier this year.<br><br>We made an original starting offer by email of £565k with a valid AIP in writing. Unfortunately, James refused to pass this on to the seller, stating that unless we had it backed by a mortgage broker he would not show it to the seller (he later denied this, and tried to claim that he did actually pass it on).<br><br>We then received a phone call a few days later asking us to increase the offer, as there was another higher offer on the table. James then asked to speak to our mortgage broker to confirm with them directly that we could afford our new higher offer of £585k. This all felt particularly rushed and we were certainly put under pressure to get a solicitor instructed.<br><br>We took a bit of time to reflect, then decided that we would reduce our offer, as we made a pressured decision that was beyond our budget. James called me aggressively claiming that he did us a massive favour and worked very hard to secure the house, as there was another offer exceeding £600k which had been accepted.<br><br>We stood our ground.<br><br>Turns out the house sold for £570k after all.<br><br>Stick to your guns, know your rights.<br><br>If you make an offer, they are legally bound to present it to the seller in writing, remember that (mortgage broker or not).

17th Oct 2026 (16 days ago)Avoid these estate agents.<br><br>In my experience, they appear far more concerned about landlords than the tenants who pay their fees indirectly through their rent.<br><br>I moved into a supposedly luxury‘new-build’ flat that was filthy, damaged and excessively overheated. The conditions were so bad that they affected my health. Throughout my 13-month tenancy, I was repeatedly given excuses, misled and left chasing the company to resolve ongoing issues.<br><br>I had over a dozen visits from various tradesmen attempting to fix major problems with the flat, yet the whole experience was incredibly stressful and frustrating.<br><br>Despite requesting the landlord’s contact details in writing at the start of my tenancy, they refused to provide them. When it came to the return of my deposit, which should have been dealt with within 10 days under the terms of my tenancy agreement, I did not receive it until day 24, after having to chase them repeatedly.<br><br>What I find particularly frustrating is that they are very quick to send reminders when rent is due, yet getting a timely response or having legitimate tenant concerns addressed is an entirely different matter.<br><br>Based on my experience, I would strongly advise prospective tenants to think carefully before renting through this company. My 13 months dealing with them were stressful, disappointing and completely unacceptable.

Elia was incredibly helpful throughout the process and was always patient with me despite the many questions I had (as I wanted to make sure everything was handled correctly).<br><br>Elia was always available when I contacted her, consistently polite, reassuring and supportive throughout the journey. 6th Oct 2026 (27 days ago)Hanover has given me absolutely fantastic customer service from beginning to end. If I'm honest, I was not expecting the quality of service I got, because the flat I was selling is a relatively low-value property; I figured the team would save their energy for homes nearer the top end of the market, but they absolutely did not. Initially I got a realistic idea of likely selling price from Charlie, who was both helpful and knowledgeable (he clearly knew my market segment). Senan did the first viewing ... and then I started to worry if I'd made the right decision about my agent because then Richard brought someone round, and then Pierce - where was the consistency, and how would this impact my customer service? Turns out I was completely wrong in my assumptions: all three members of the sales team gave me nothing but excellent support, and they also kept in touch with each other about what progress was being made so service was seamless whoever I spoke to. Once I had an offer, they were brilliant liaising with the buyer; and - critically - they gave me timely and well-placed advice to ensure that I could move things along as quickly as possible at my end when other organisations were causing delays. Not only did I get first-class service but the whole team are as friendly a bunch as you could wish for. I recommend them wholeheartedly (I never thought I would ever say that about an estate agent!) and would choose them again every time.
