To any students considering renting through sandersons, don’t. Multiple times when our rented house needed small jobs to be carried out, they were denied. Sandersons don’t even attempt to converse with the landlord on your behalf. Our house was already in poor condition. They would not even pay to install a thermostat to my radiator when I told them I was getting ill because it was always turned on (and when I even offered to pay, they still said no).
They charge you money from your deposit and don’t even tell you what it is for. We had £470 taken from our deposit for ‘cleaning the property and removing left items’ with no breakdown at all of these costs.
They will always side with the landlord, not the tenant.
During coronavirus when businesses shut, a lot of people were temporarily without income. Almost every student that I know who was renting through another agency, recieved support such as delaying rent payments, or even cancelling rent because people had gone back to their family homes and weren’t physically allowed to live in their rented properties. I don’t think sandersons even sent out more than one email about the situation, and the distant relationship that they have with tenants makes you feel that you could certainly not approach them to ask for any support like this.
There are many properties and rental options in Canterbury that I would reccommend before sandersons and I am surprised that they have an average of 4 stars.
