Peach Property Shoreditch sent me a deal I’ve accepted and placed a deposit to secure the property I was meant to move to, at the beginning, all went well. Turns out I contacted them two weeks before moving date as I still didn’t receive any contract to sign and when they do I ask them two super simple questions I had about the contract – One was about the move in date that has been agreed with their agent, Carrie, to be done on the 30th. Because I was currently living two streets away she assured me that I could come a week earlier to start moving things some days during that week with no issue (as I was next door I could have carried boxes by feet).
Anyway, while asking the questions I was dealing with another person called Nick, property manager who’s been completely unhelpful and disrespectful – Firstly Ive been told that if I wanted to come in to move things a week before I had to start the contract earlier even if it was just for one day to move things in – Which I found a bit cheeky since I’ve not been told I had to pay a full week of rent early to do that when I visited the property and placed a deposit for it – And when I asked questions about the contract, they were just not flexible to discuss it and became really irritated and told me to basically take it or leave it and if I wasn’t happy, they’d cancel the deal and put it back on the market.
Of course I wanted to move in this flat more than anything (and would be homeless a week after if I didn’t!) plus I was travelling abroad for work! I tried to call them about 5 time to discuss the issues – but no one answered. Which lead me to receive an email 5mn after the tentative of calls, telling me they were cancelling the contract because the landlady wasn’t confortable with renting me the property anymore ! It’s truly unacceptable coming from an agency to not support the clients they have as tenants.
They never gave me a reason why she cancelled the contract and I’ve been in a really difficult and stressful situation because of that.
They’ve offered no help to help me find another place for me and they actually put back the flat on the market for a lot more than it has been offered to me when I visited - Which proves clearly the reason why they cancelled the deal was truly to make some more money out of it. If you are a tenant I urge you to look for another agency to work with as this has been the worst experience I’ve had in 10 years living in London and is clearly unacceptable in a human way to do something like that to someone.
I’ve contacted the manager – Chris, who had the audacity to tell me that it “doesn’t benefit them in anyway to start the process again as we now also have advertising costs, reference costs and time to try and find a new tenant.” I’ve also mentioned – unless they’d provide any explications or help (they didn’t) – I will make sure I will leave reviews online to report their attitude and way to treat tenants and they’ve mentioned they will take actions against me if I was doing this because it would be “false claims” when all I’m doing is stating what happened to me to make sure this never happens to someone else because it’s been an awful and disgusting experience.
