I have recently completed the purchase of my first flat with the help of Robert Hamlyn who was brilliant. Super communication and support and went the extra mile to help get the transaction over the line within a tight time frame. I was very grateful for Robert's assistance and regular updates to keep everyone in the loop. Robert had a very pragmatic, sensible and practical approach to the inevitable issues which cropped up along the way. Robert (as well as Liam Bray of the Muswell Hill office) worked hard to communicate these between the parties and ensure that we reached an outcome that everyone was happy with. His help and support throughout was very much appreciated - thank you. Highly recommended.
Absolutely Appalling. I would strongly advise anyone thinking of using this agency to reconsider.
The agent who was in charge of our letting was James. When showing us round he promised many things such as the re-grouting of a bathroom and a professional clean before we moved in. After you have paid he completely denies he ever said these things and says you agreed to the flat ‘As seen’. A phrase which he so rigidly stuck to we expect to move in with him in the lounge as this was technically ‘As seen’.
When we were handed the sets of keys, some of which did not even work, we went to take a look at the flat. The professional clean had undoubtedly never happened. There was half eaten food in the fridge, rubbish under the beds and even ash in the ashtrays. Also despite insisting the flat was ‘As seen’ some of the nicer items of furniture had been removed.
When we tried to ring James explaining this, coincidentally for the next few days whenever we rang we would be told ‘he is out on a viewing’, ‘he is out the back’, ‘he has just had to dash out of the office’ and our favourite - ‘he is on the toilet’. None of us have been able to get through to him despite calling on so many various occasions.
Seeing as James had apparently disappeared of the face of the earth the only suggestion they had was to call the landlady directly. Which makes you wonder what on earth the extortionate agency fees you pay are for, when I asked this I was informed that they do not manage the properties so I genuinely am at a loss as to what that charge is for. The service was terrible, the communication with our agent close to non-existent. I cannot stress how much we would advise against using these agents for lettings.
Chesterton Humberts in Islington are great. Finding a flat was quick and painless. I am still in the flat Chesterton Humberts estate agents found for me, however, I am looking into another property because I considering moving to a bigger flat. If I do, I will most certainly use Chesterton Humberts!
We have had a relationship with London Residential (as landlords of 2 apartments locally) for about a year, most recently with James Baines and Tanya Malik. We have found all the staff to be helpful, proactive and responsive. James and Tanya in particular arranged our latest tenancy in the space of 4 days. When a problem arose this was solved by James in conjunction with his boss in about 2 hours. Knowledgeable, professional, energetic - everything you could wish for in a managing agent. Highly recomended.
I cannot condemn this company enough. Problem after problem after problem with nothing ever being sorted. Rude staff, treated all 3 of us despicably and like idiots the whole tenancy. Plumbing emergency? Forget about it, they don't care. They want money from you? Now that is urgent! Despite our contracted stating a MINIMUM of 24hrs notice for viewings, they called a few hours before and stated they were coming over. When I complained they said they weren't able to give that amount of notice. Complete lack of communication not only within departments but company-wide as well. Greedy, self-serving, rude, ignorant people. Incredibly glad that I will be leaving them far behind. Unfortunately, I can't leave less than one star or I would.
Initially I used another agent, but I was not happy with their sales performance. I switched to Foxtons, who were immediately on the ball, courteous and helpful. We live overseas, and Oliver handled the sales negations for us. He was always cheerful and upbeat, and returned calls. Is Foxtons the cheapest agent, no. Would I use them again? Absolutely. They got us the sale, as the market was a bit slow. Well done.
We have had the worst possible experience here. We were warned against working with Foxtons but were new to London and didn't think it could be that bad.
Once they had our deposit we pretty much didn't hear from them anymore to the extent that when the landlord went back on several clauses in our contract Foxtons tried to wash their hands of it by claiming that it was a misunderstanding! A signed contract for which they charge a hefty £420, and they will not take the trouble to enforce it. They will lie (I am looking at you Narada) and make any promise just to get you to hand over your deposit.
Of course we left that place double quick. It has now been 3 weeks and there is no sign of our deposit coming back to us yet. The inventory check is complete and it found no problems at all, new tenants have moved in as well. But no one from Foxtons is available to let us know what is going on and when we will get our deposit back!
I have had a truly excellent service from Felicity J Lord Islington through two property sales, and would not hesitate to recommend them most highly to anybody who asked.
An awful experience throughout and a complete lack of communication. You still owe us £56 after over-charging for an inventory and three and a half weeks after moving in, your property management team have failed to arrange for someone to fix the broken lock on our front door. You changed our check in time the day before we were due to check in which meant we couldn't attend and then tried to charge us for a professional clean which never happened! Plus we had to move into a flat full of electrical problems because in the three weeks prior to us moving in, when the flat had sat empty, you had again failed to get anyone in to resolve these problems. It's unfortunate I now have to deal with you for 14 more months!
