Mulberry's have been described in other reviews as the "pirates of Egham estate agents", and this is light criticism to say the least. They don't care about their customers at all frankly. We would never be told if and when their would be people coming to look at the house, so we would often be woken by the estate agents showing up as and when it suited them without letting us know. At one point the woman showing perspective tenants around the house stopped to ask who I was, and who the other 5 people living in the house at the time were. This really shows how little they care about their customers - they literally don't know who is living in the houses they rent. They also would open rooms in the house to show people the rooms, and then not lock them afterwards, meaning anyone could just go into their rooms (many of these tenants were away on holidays, and had no way to check their rooms). The building that I stayed in, as well as other examples of Mulberry housing that I have seen, are dilapidated at best, complete with mouldy walls and broken fixtures all round.
Another Google reviewee wondered how it was possible for an estate agency as dire as Mulberry's manages to stay open, and I would have to say that the only reason that they are able to continue operating without going bust is that they rent to RHUL students, who will only be living in the house for a year, and who often will not know how to handle cowboy estate agencies. It is also worth mentioning that Mulberry's will try to load as many property costs (that would with any other agency be the responsibility of the agency itself), such as maintaining the gardens, etc. onto the tenants. The garden of the house itself was overgrown and looked more like the parking lot of an abandoned Detroit factory than a garden. The ivy growth was so thick on the fence it was literally pulling it over. The neighbour came over and explained that he had had to remove the ivy in the past, without any recompense for his work, and that after not being able to get them to clear up the garden again that he would have to do it again. They will also charge you between £500 to £700 at the end of your yearly contract to have the house "professionally cleaned" by a sister company (they will charge you this regardless of wether you leave the house in the condition it was when you entered it or not).
There are some nice properties to rent in Egham, and I truly pity anyone unfortunate enough to have signed one of their contracts. Take my advice - avoid Mulberry's like the plague.
