8th Apr 2026 (11 days ago)One of the worst experience in letting properties.They are good on selling/buying properties,tricky and ignoring emails without response,lack of flexibility and not willing to communicate personnel at Abbey Wood branch!The handling of client funds in my situation has been particularly concerning.

It was a long process with many ups and downs but Chattertons were supportive throughout. Jen’s support was especially invaluable, she was always available to answer any queries and was so proactive in communicating with us or problem solving where needed. An excellent agency who we would recommend to anyone !
5th Sep 2023 (2 years ago)Amazingly bad service We rented a complete owned property for just over 2 years. In that time we had about 5 property managers. This should say all you need to know. Each one not knowing what had gone on before. Given the fact a week before we thought we were moving in we had to chase them to find out nothing had moved forward and they were waiting on us to send documentation (we were not told). Throughout the 2 years they were never really there to help you. After we have left they have tried to keep around 75% of our deposit which is absolutely insane. Missing furniture that never existed in the first place, the most expensive cleaning quote imaginable and £50 to remove a single chair. These are some of the excuses on the quote. Try and avoid complete properties when possible!!

5th Feb 2026 (10 weeks ago)After months of very frustrating house hunting experiences with numerous estate agents in south London, we viewed and offered on a house listed with Bryan and Keegan. Jamie Dalton was the agent who managed our purchase. Jamie was exceptional from start to completion. He was the most proactive, efficient agent. He helped us navigate a couple of tricky aspects with the sellers with great diplomacy. He supported them in obtaining documents from the council and in responding to our concerns from the survey. He was an excellent communicator who promptly replied to emails and calls and liaised well with our solicitor. He let nothing slip. Jamie was also very pleasant to deal with. Clearly, he has a wealth of experience and skills and was very committed to the process. I highly recommend him and his agency.
25th Mar 2026 (25 days ago)Unpleasant experience with them. The entire process is lengthy and inconvenient. Distress won't end if you are with them. Negligible support during tenancy, worst and super delayed tenancy deposit return process (although the landlord agreed long ago). Extremely poor communication and lack of clarity about the process, and they only respond when you nudge them to follow up on your case. Overall a 'minus' 1 star experience in terms of the service. I would recommend other capable and efficient agents if you are looking for a stress-free experience.

From start to finish, he was incredibly responsive to our needs and truly went above and beyond at every stage. When we experienced delays and poor communication from our conveyancer, Louis stepped in without hesitation, helping to move things forward and keep the transaction on track. His proactive approach made a real difference and significantly reduced what could have been a very stressful situation. What really stood out was how patient and supportive he was throughout the process. He always gave us the space to make decisions in our own time, and no question was ever too much trouble. The level of service we received was second to none. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Louis and the team at Hindhead to anyone looking to buy or sell a property.

1st Apr 2026 (18 days ago)We bought and sold our property thru John Payne Plumstead. Will evaluated our property and provided me with confidence that his team had the knowledge and skill to provide excellent service. His evaluation was fair and balanced, he didn't try to oversell like other evaluators. The property we wanted to buy also happened to be listed by the John Payne (Chris). The process was very lengthy and exhausting at times , due to issues in the chain above us. Will and Chris did an excellent job, kept us informed at all times and truly stepped up when we hit a hurdle. I would recommend anyone selling or buying a property in SE18 to use this wonderful friendly agency. Thanks as well to Katie (head office) for her assistance with the endless paperwork.

Bradley did an good job of keeping me in the loop with everyone in the chain while working to secure a completion date. They were always quick to respond, and Katie consistently followed up to ensure any questions or concerns I had were addressed.

2nd Apr 2026 (17 days ago)The sales team were genuinely lovely, no issues there at all. The lettings side however was a completely different experience. The referencing company they use is honestly shocking – it does not have a single review above 1 star. On top of that, my referencing actually showed as completed and successful on their system, and they even confirmed over the phone that I had passed. Despite that, the estate agents told me there was still an issue. To try and move things forward, I offered additional payslips and bank statements, and said I could even get them officially stamped by my employer. They refused to accept any manual documents at all, which I’ve never come across before with any agent. Instead, their process requires you to give third-party access to your personal data - bank account and HMRC account, with no alternative option, again a red flag as this isn’t a legal requirement due to obvious GDPR an security reasons. I wasn’t comfortable with that, so I explained I was happy to provide everything needed, just not by giving that level of access. When I spoke to Hayley in lettings (who was very defensive and not helpful) , I called to ask what I could to help them complete the process and also said I didn’t understand why standard documents weren’t being accepted when they’re normally more than enough - although if I’ve passed referencing no further docs should be required anyway. The immediate response was that my application would be rejected and my holding deposit could be retained if I didn’t agree to share my data that way, which didn’t sit right with me at all. I called again to follow up after the referencing company confirmed I had passed all checks (i contacted the referencing agency directly incase there was a miscommunication or error on their website), and was then told that the person I had spoken to worked in a different office… even though it was the same number and office, which just added to the confusion. Later on, I was told the landlord had actually decided not to proceed anyway – which completely contradicted what I’d been told earlier about referencing being the issue. To be fair, they did refund the holding deposit in full, which I assume is because the situation wasn’t handled properly and they realised they legally could not retain my deposit as I passed all checks. Overall, the whole process felt confusing, inconsistent, and unnecessarily rigid. I’ve rented before and never had an experience like this.

Jake always took the time to answer my questions (there were so many!) and keep me updated. His knowledge of the local area and attention to detail made everything feel straightforward and stress-free. I could not recommend him more to anyone looking to buy or sell a property.
