Agency from hell!
After waiting and asking constantly for a month, on their claim against our deposit I had to escalate the case to the TDS to get my deposit back. I knew the people in the agency were lazy, biased, and really unprofessional, hence we took pictures and videos when we vacated the property.
The TDS resolved the case, but the agency claimed in their evidence we didn't wait enough for them to come back to us! They put an invoice through wanting us to pay for windows to be cleaned, the TDS mentioned in the final report their claim was excessive as this wasn't mentioned in the check-out inventory. Be careful this agency invited the landlord to take part in the check-out inventory with the clerk, their report was really dishonest (made up we installed a sky dish, made a hole on the wall, damaged the carpets, etc.) and they didn't even bother to ask us if we wanted to be there too.
The landlord wanted to increase our rent by £50/month and after a really poor service of the agency on negotiating between parties we decided to leave the property. I don't think the people in this agency are smart at all, quite the opposite. They can be renting and selling properties all over the U.K., as they're part of a letting agency group called Sequence, but they have no idea about the market's behaviour. Our landlord not only lost a month's rent (£1600) as the agency couldn't rent the place out after we left, but they ended up renting the house on £1400/month. Quick maths: the landlord lost £2200 in a year's let contract with William H Brown, because of poor and bad advice. They didn't tell the landlord that there's increasing offer of houses in the market at the moment, and that securing good long term tenants for another year was better than trying to get an extra £600 a year! I mean, that's their business right? Well they're clueless, you will be dealing with monkeys there. One time they showed up to the property without even asking us if it was ok to show the house to prospective tenants! Absolutely ridiculous!
Landlords- don't trust them, they'll tell you whatever you want to hear just to get your business, even if it's bad advice!
Tenants- don't even bother, trust me, unless you are prepared to always be proving your point to them, there's other agencies in the market. You don't want to wait two months (after getting the TDS involved) to get your deposit back!
Elliot (Letting Manager) called my mobile to threaten us to take down our review from here! Definitely not, people need to know what you do, and how you treat your customers.
The TDS gave £100 to the landlord after they reviewed our case. This would have been resolved without their intervention, but as I said they're an agency from hell!
