Jonny Arrowsmith was very helpful throughout the purchasing process of our property being responsive and communicative of any information pertinent to the chain. Really pleased we managed to secure the property we wanted.
I would encourage the initial sales team to allow a great time for viewing around properties when people are commuting a lot of value to a home. The team were happy to arrange subsequent viewings when an offer had been accepted.

We’ve had a really good experience securing our first rental property, with Thornley Groves Monton.
We had viewings for multiple rental apartments, but Thornley Groves were the most professional by far. I met Kevin Russell at the property and he was professional and polite throughout, he had good knowledge of the apartment and its utilities, and easily answered any questions I had. I felt my viewing of the apartment was a lot more in depth than the viewings we were given by other estate agents.
Lucy Johnson was our letting negotiator, and again, was very friendly and professional. She was quick to communicate and answer any questions we had. She sent all of the relevant documents out in a timely manner for us to sign, and the whole process ran really smoothly.

From start to finish we just can't fault the service provided from Lucy and Amber at Thornley Groves. Amber who we initially spoke to was very helpful and informative, and clearly pointed out what we needed to do to start the ball rolling with everything. Once we had our property listed and potential tenants started viewing our property we dealt with Lucy who again was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had. Lucy explained what the next steps were, what we needed, and was happy to organise a later move in date with the tenants whilst we got a few things sorted in the house. This was our first time dealing with this process and we would highly recommend Thornley Groves to any potential tenant or landlord as it's been a smooth process throughout. Thornley Groves Monton have been excellent with helping my partner and I secure a property to rent. We first spoke to Kevin, who was inredibly informative, listened to and understood what we were looking for, and was constantly excited to show us new listings as they came up. Once we had found a great match, Lucy assisted us with administration and kept us frequently updated with the progress of our reference checks. She was also able to accommodate our move in date, as well as helping us with how to set up utilities and providing us with meter readings. My husband and I have used Clare Carpenter at Thornley Groves to sell our last three houses and she has been nothing but amazing on every occasion. I know that selling a house is supposed to be one of the most stressful things a person will do during their life, but Clare kept us both calm and grounded throughout. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her, and she was always available at the end of the phone or via WhatsApp whenever we needed to speak to her. The house sold very quickly thanks to the combined efforts of the team. Kelly did most of the viewings, she was very accommodating and worked them around our availability.
Throughout the sale, Clare was excellent. She was constantly on the ball, chasing things up and keeping us posted every step of the way.

I deal with Christabel regularly as a tenant in long residence at one of the Thornley Properties. Dealing with admin relating to tenancy, which at the end of the day is a “home” is never an easy thing to do, it’s incredibly anxiety inducing and also daunting. Effectively Christabel is the go between of communication between myself and the landlord. I’m in a very personal situation of ill health at the moment, and Christabel has been nothing short of a diamond asset. In 20 years of dealing with letting agents, some are intrusive, rude and treat you as a commodity . Christabel is the first and leading lady who has been kind, personal and approachable, and I feel comfortable communicating with her all my personal circumstance and business. I have been in my property for 5 years and had some issues as most private rental properties have. The apartment above mine & managed by Thornley Groves had a water leak resulting in water running down my walls, through ceiling lights, bathroom extractor fan, smoke alarm etc.
Obviously I reported it to Thornley Groves & Building management company at the earliest moment.
I spoke to two people at Thornley but was rudely fobbed off when I asked for help & the landlord’s details. In the meantime I had to arrange an emergency electrician, costing over £500 to rectify, I also got quotes for cleaning & decorating cost as requested by Building Management but still not a peep from Thornley Grove.
13 days later Akash finally makes contact, not to apologise or say everything will be dealt with but to dispute my claim and to be completely on the defensive, hence getting legal advice. As a landlord of numerous properties in the area, Thornley Groves would NEVER get my business!!

I have been trying to contact since yesterday about my bedroom ceiling leaking it has now come to a stage that it’s hole roof has fell through and damaged my hole bedroom it has become to dangerous for me to live in as well.
I have tried finding a emergency number I have tried contacting since yesterday morning I spoke to one lady who told me they have no emergency number and just to report the problem online which I have done so almost 10 times now and still not heard anything back. My bedroom is ruined I just brought a new bed and even that is now all damaged my clothes and my other items are now all going in the bin as well.
I had the roof fall on my head and have also hurt my head and back because of it.
Like I don’t understand this company not having any emergency contact number what’s so ever.
I have to bloody wait till Monday now.
On top of that I’m just terrified it might get in to the electric wires.

The service we received from Clare & Tom at Thornley Groves, Monton branch has exceeded our expectations. They both are excellent.
I am extremely impressed with Clare and especially with her quick response to emails. My husband and I have been working with her for about five months through the process of buying our house. When I email Clare with a question or to get an update on our case, I get a response no later than three to four minutes after sending the email. It's been like this every time I've emailed Clare since we've been working with her. Buying a house is a somewhat stressful process, therefore to receive a quick response is very reassuring and shows us that we are not alone and have support from her and the agency she represents. We have experience with Tom with whom we have viewed several properties. He helped us a lot with advice as he has more experience in real estate.
In conclusion we think Clare and Tom are very good at what they do. In a few words, absolute professionals, and if you come across them, you are in good hands. I rarely give feedback, but in this case I wanted to, for the reasons listed above.

Please never use these people. I have had the stress of them for a whole year. They are awful people. When we first rented my property I arrived with my guarantor all the way from Essex. The lady dealing with us had sent a list of documents we needed but had completely changed what was needed when we arrived and were 5 hours away from home. Once moved in they sent contractors round the apartments at random to discard of any items left in “communal areas” including outside our front doors. My shoe rack with hiking boots and even my door mat, yes door mat, were thrown out. They claimed signs were left around the property but they were hidden down the corridor of the ground floor where only ground floor tenants would’ve seen them. When I complained about my personal items being discarded with no warning the lady (Mereym) laughed and scoffed at me saying if I valued them they shouldn’t have been on a shoe rack outside my front door. They also sent a debt collector email when I'd paid my rent in full as the property manager was unable to work out correct rental payments for my final month. They call every 3 months and accuse me of owning pets and threaten inspections whether I'm home or not. If you ever try to call and fix any issues they won’t ever answer. The letting team are never at their desks and they won’t reply to emails until it suits them. Just don’t put yourself through the stress, Ascend properties treated me so much better the 2 years before this, Thornley Groves are barbaric.

To put it simply, I have never been with an agency as bad as Thornley Groves. I originally signed with them for a flat in Salford quays - once we moved in, it had clearly not been cleaned and we had to ask them to send cleaners as it was actually making my housemate ill. Then when we moved out, we had cleaned to a good standard and they still charged us a £300 cleaning fee. This was clearly booked in prior to even doing checks as people moved in the next day, so they were always going to clean it regardless. We actually knew the tenants that moved in as well who said it 100% hadn’t been professionally cleaned, but they wouldn’t hear any of it.
And then the fee itself, where they got a £300 rate from I had no idea as that was extortionate for a 2 bed flat. Until I looked up the cleaning company, which also happens to be owned by Thornley groves - which I don’t know how they’re legally able to do, it’s a complete conflict of interest to charge tenants cleaning fees that they 100% benefit from.
After that experience I wouldn’t go near them as a business but unfortunately they bought out my new rental agency. I ensured this time to pay for a professional cleaner (shouldn’t have to) I had a few extra days to my tenancy and attended the viewing (I would 100% recommend doing this) and to my delight I actually got them to agree to no cleaning fee - as there was literally no way they could justify it.
However they have still withheld £150 of my deposit which I have disputed and they conveniently have just stopped replying. It has been almost 4 months since I moved out and I can’t get the money back without paying for legal support - which I am pursuing.
Awful agency, pretty terrible staff, would avoid like the plague.

Obscene to increase the rent during a pandemic. Sam and Joe are shielding, as Joe is extremely vulnerable, moving is a huge risk to their health and wellbeing. They’re trapped paying extra £50 a month for a poorly insulated flat. The landlord Chris refused free gas central heating for the flat block 2 years prior, which Sam and Joe had set up through the local council. His reason - couldn’t be bothered to pay the upkeep on a gas boiler. This would have saved them £300 a year on bills. I think that Chris White is just another greedy landlord with no care or consideration for his tenants.

I think it is cruel and unprofessional for Chris White, a landlord and one of Barlow White's directors, to force a £50 per month rent increase on two tenants, Sam and Joe who are shielding and therefore cannot move.
Sam and Joe's landlord, Chris White, is a millionaire who rents out neighbouring flats on AirBnB for £50 a night, so he doesn't exactly need the money, he's just greedy.
He also refused to allow the tenants to use a council scheme to switch the flats to a more efficient central heating system. This would have saved the tenants around £300 a year and reduced their carbon emissions at no cost to the landlord. In my opinion, that's a scummy thing to do.

I was going to purchase a property through this agency, they just wasted my time, my energy and my money. They held information back and misled me. I have all the proofs about them having all the required information to give to a potential buyer, they still tell me they are not aware of any information/problem. I could always give them a headache for misleading me but it really doesn’t worth it, instead I would like people to know this agency is rubbish! Total disgrace.

We have recently moved to a rental property managed by Barlow White and have to say they were the best agency we came across during our house search. Easy to get hold of, actively looked for somewhere that would suit us when another property fell through, and have fixed a few small maintenance niggles in record speed since we moved in. Highly recommend.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Barlow White- we had 4 years of happy tenancy through them, most problems swiftly dealt with no fuss and I'm good time. Generally good communication on the whole. No fuss on handover of flat.

Rented through these guys for 2.5 years recently. All great from Kevin, Paul, Tracey, Jess, Kelly, Rebecca - all great people, very helpful and hard working. Excellent team of contractors, unlike other local agents, Dave the builder/general contractor is a superstar. We did have a *tricky* landlord/house owner but they managed them very well for the best outcomes all round. Keep up the great work :)

Disgraceful service. In order to view a property I was told I would need to complete a pre approval form, provide 2 references, allow a credit check to be conducted and pay £109 non refundable holding fee, just to allow me to view a property. I appreciate its difficult times and removing time wasters will help estate agents shift properties, but for the director of the business to charge people to view properties is disgraceful. There are 4 properties I intended to view with Barlow White £327 to view them!!!! No wonder they have more properties on the market than competitors when they are charging for viewings!!!!

Shocking exploitation. I phoned to arrange a viewing for a potential rental property. I was advised that due to Covid, the director had instructed that I would have to pay a £109 (holding fee) which was non refundable. Only then could I view the property. PAY TO VIEW A PROPERTY! Absolute joke!

I've been with Barlow White now since Jan/Feb 2018 and never had a problem. The guy who comes around for the inspections is a really nice guy, always have a good natter because my place is always spotless!
Being a tenant you know the circumstances upon signing as its all laid out to you clearly so there's no excuses to not keep your end of the deal as the occupant.
All my Gas Safety inspections are on time and not once have I ever had a maintenance problem. They have recently introduced a system which a lot of agents have, so its even easier to report maintenence issues if any should arise.
Kevin sorted my tenancy out and it's was stress free! All the girls in the office were friendly too! :)

Barlow white best estate agents in the business. Everyone in the Monton Eccles branch team are so helpful and supportive in there roles. Especially letting agent Kevin Russell He is exceptionall in his field. I highly recommend Barlow White in Monton for both lettings and sales.

Made an offer on property but never heard from them , no emails nothing , i called them to ask what happened with my offer but no one did call back and said the guy who deals with you busy , nothing clear, this could lead that the property could be sold to chosen people with fix price with unfair beds !!

Accused me of stealing sofa cushions and after two years still haven't receive my deposit. AWFUL COMMUNICATION RUDE LANDLORD AND EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE STAFF.

This is aimed at the landlady not barlow white Irlam avenue landlady needs checking up on as she has had 3,500 pound of repairs to do seen by john Kershaw plus she wasn't licenced to rent oh and to top it off she has a stinky attitude and robbed my 69 year old Gran of nearly a grand and she couldnt care less about repairs and when I lived there the back bedroom door nearly fell on my child and she just sent her dad to take the door away fire hazard much!!!

WORST agency in the business, I strongly urge you to avoid even if you have found the best property in the world because it just isn't worth it. They will leave you without hot water, running water or even tell you to shut up if you smell gas because they don't know how to do their jobs but only know how to collect money. STAY AWAY!!!
