Awful. Just called up after viewing a property and being advised by estate agent Claire that I would need a guarantor as I'm under 24 and that the deposit matched the rent to speak to Michelle whose customer service skills are non existent. As soon as I mentioned guarantor she immediately advised me that the property wasn't available to someone on benefits!!! I'm a student with two jobs and ample affordability without the assistance of JSA or any other benefit! Rude and obnoxious how you ever get any business is beyond me.... Read more

Homesearch (Trent Vale) have rented properties for me for 10 years. I have found them to be incredibly fair in terms of protecting both the landlord and tenant. I have always respected how the office (Linda & Sharon particularly) have always maintained a balance between ensuring the landlord and tenant are fairly represented and managed throughout the tenancy agreements. I would highly recommend Homesearch and regularly do. ... Read more

At first they were OK. They bent over backwards to get me on board and convinced the landlord that I was a good tenant. I had just split from my wife and needed my own place and they did help me out. I found that they had the best application fees of all the agencies that I looked at. I did find the staff mostly rude and unhelpful but I just put this down to them not getting a good shag. My problems began when I wanted to leave. They said that I had destroyed the flat, I apparently had ruined the floors and carpets. Despite the fact that they were knackered when I moved in as per the itinerary. I did nothing but try to make the place mine. I decorated it well and at my own expense. I needed to move to be closer to work. I applied for my deposit back and they told me that I need to pay my final rent first and bring the flat up to scratch. The flat was in a much much better condition than when I took it over so I disagreed with them. Following an argument in the shop with the Director Mr Holdcroft thinks he knows it all can bully anybody I decided to apply for my deposit back anyway. Obviously Homesearch refused and instead they applied for it all. Anyway after a lengthy battle Deposit Protection finally saw my point of view and awrded me my full Deposit back! To say that I am pleased to have beaten the arrogance and bullishness of the owners/staff is an understatement. I would never go with Homesearch again. There is a reason that they are cheap. The staff are Monkeys paid peanuts and the Director and has wife are Orangutang's dragging their knuckles on the floor 30 years behind on management skills and basic people skills. Goodbye, farewell and thanks for the money.... Read more

God absolutely awful. Agree with everything the first person wrote - their rudeness isn't restricted to students either, i'm a professional. Everytime there is an issue they'll blame you. Even more importantly they wanted to take half the deposit without a reason why and everytime i contact them they fail to respond. Don't think the deposit protection scheme will help you either - they can't force them to go through the resolution process. It has been 3 months and now i'm having to take them to court to get my money back - stay well away, worst experience ever! ... Read more

Steer clear, fellow students! From my experience, I have found them to be anything but helpful, speedy or efficient. Customer service towards students is almost non-existent. They are rude, flippant and patronising. I do not expect the letting agent to late to a viewing when driving half a mile down the road nor take 10 minute phone calls in the middle of a viewing, and then proceed in being flippant, patronising and brushing off any queries about the house with "...We've had a lot of interest in this property so if you don't make your minds up soon, it'll be gone!" This distinct lack of customer service and professionalism towards students almost extends to incompetency as they fail to carry out correct transactions (taking multiple tenants' rent out of one tenant's account) and failing to keep track of deposits that have been paid. The staff are fine until you mention the word "student" at which they become unhelpful and disinterested. Plus, the bureaucracy they have is incredible. So many forms + £40 admin fee before you even sign a contract! (But, just as a side note: they aren't my letting agent, but I have followed students through their year with Homesearch in Hartshill from viewing properties with them to signing the contracts, paying deposits and moving in)...
