So I has the Toros(Torosh) Eggs benedict with red cabbage and black pudding! Possible the best thing I have ever eaten????! So if your ever in Hastings, try The Cookhouse! Not just for that, breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner! Food is exquisite ????, not forgetting the little treats with your coffee, or tea and a little sweet to leave with!

Had a late breakfast here today as a birthday treat. The food was top quality and good value and the latte was one of the best i've had with a quirky extended froth. The decor is also quirky with an industrial theme, with interesting pictures on the walls, which are also for sale. The cafe is scupulously clean and the owners are friendly and smartly attired. Even down to using one of their own 'quirky' wooden bow ties. By the way quirky is my word of the day!

Based on very good ratings, I drove 1/2 hr to visit this place (which was "Open" according to Google) & it was closed. No sign on door or anything! Big lesson: phone before you go....

Best hot chocolate I’ve had in ages! Interior decor was very unique with a lot of the items on display for sale. My parents have visited this cafe before and decided to bring me along and I will definitely be returning in the near future. Extensive menu, offering a wide variety of milkshakes, hot drinks and range of food - there’s something for everyone. The owners are clearly passionate about their job taking pride in everything they made and served to customers :)

We stumbled across this place when we went to Morrisons and we're going to have a snack in the cafe there...but they were so rude, we left...( This was about 4 years ago )..so we took a stroll down Queens road and found this treasure trove....we have been going back once a week or more since then when we can ..
Their breakfast is the best anywhere...their lunch choices and extras are wonderful, pancakes to die for...service is great...itsxall incredibly clean.....quirky decor ...home made by the multi talented owner ...food is beautifully cooked...overall it's just a joy...missed it so much in lockdown...it's our best find for many years....very highly reccommended and the prices are so reasonable...

An array of amazingly well presented food, and an extensive milkshake menu. They go as far as themeing each milkshake after the flavor. All the meals go the extra mile, and it would be my restruant of choice if I lived locally.

We love this place so much we go almost every weekend! They have a massive menu with lots of variations on Eggs Benedict (plus only place around which serves authentic Hungarian Langoosh - yum!). They have so many different sirups I always get my late with something new (so far tiramisu and Coconut are my favourites). But I guess what I love the most is the service. Waiter immediately makes you feel special and remembers you even if you only visited once. The food comes out looking superb (little sauce dots like in expensive restaurants and all!). When I get a bill I am always shocked how cheap it is (but that might be ex-Londoner in me talking) - and immediately book table for next week :-)

This is a perfect little treasure of a cafe: super-friendly staff, delicious food cooked with love and skill, funky unique hand-crafted decor (Hungarian steampunk don’t you know!) and the best COVID-safe precautions I’ve seen. Highly recommended!

Stopped off on our way back to Kent and what a delight! Amazing menu, prices and quality. We had the eggs Benedict and an omelette which were incredible. The Hulk and Poncho smoothie were also amazing. Service was excellent and very friendly. Thoroughly recommend to anyone and everyone!

The Cookhouse Cafe is AMAZING!! Food was delightful. Very tasty. We had the English breakfast the Langos and a chocolate milkshake!! All of it was wonderful. The guy working in there was so friendly, welcoming and polite! Definitely recommend and will be going back in the near future ????????! Thank you!

My partner and I went in for a breakfast and asked for a table as there were two unreserved. The owner saw a couple behind us and thought we were all together, when he realised we were separate he turned us all away in the hope to get more people in at a bigger table.

Literally the best breakfast i have had in Hastings and St Leonard's. Very nice decor and atmosphere attention to detail regarding the whole service. Extensive menu cooked to perfection. Owners are very genuine and put every effort into the quality of the service.

Well, what can I say, once I got over my personal prejudices I was greeted by the perfect hosts.
Csaba's attention to making sure my Wife and I had the perfect Sunday breakfast, even making alternative suggestions, was spot on. Did I mention the awesome after breakfast conversation? If you are visiting Hastings, I would thoroughly reccomend this place. Customer Service, great hosts and authentic warmth and really good food.

Male owner rude and a little patronising female owner miserable and smileless. Inflexible with set menu reluctantly agreeing to leave an item I did not like off my plate. I think they forget they are a cafe. A cup of tea (cheap and tasteless) served with a bourbon and a mint. (A little ott for a cafe.) The food was dry and tasteless both eggs broken (he did apologise for this) they were by far the best thing on the plate. Cheap sausages. Toast was dry. Atmosphere was horrible as no music even the owners were not talking whilst working. The bill brought to the table on a plate with a fudge on top.(again a little ott for a cafe). £9.50 would have been much better spent elsewhere.

Wonderful brunch & perfect coffee. A great atmosphere, too--obviously a labour of love for the friendly proprietors. A cosy cafe where the food is fresh and the service is excellent. I can't wait to go back!

Great place to eat.
I love this place for delicious food which is prepared and cooked onsite. Lovely food and very pleasant service.
Cosy atmosphere with lots of art on the walls for sale.
I find the staff very friendly and helpful. They talked me through the menu as it was Hungarian food.
Very reasonable prices in a quaint little cafe. Well worth a visit f you are in town.
At the weekends I would suggest calling ahead to book a table.

Deliciously authentic Hungarian cuisine cooked fresh to order. The owner has a clear passion for food providing good suggestions of what to try based on your taste. Highly recommended if in the Hastings area. Could be worth booking to guarantee a seat as can get full.

A took my son here for breakfast today. A lovely place to have breakfast. really nice staff (owner?) and great value. would like to visit again if I go back to Hastings. the breakfast is massive and coffee was lovely. they give you bourbons and mints with coffee and fudge at the end :)
