Writing politely a review on West Kent Housing is quite a challenge as is even awarding a star but I will give it a go by giving you an insight into an issue and how they deal with it or in this case not.
The issue is of noise and lack of sound proofing which make the property unfit for purpose. It appears to be a poorly done conversion at some stage of construction of semi detatched houses in to 2 flats of which a family live in a 2 bed above and a single bed dwelling is below, spaces to live, places to grow my eye. The design is such that the vibration of walls, ceilings, doors and light fittings along with the thud and thump of foot along with the accompanying noises of a family living a carefree life above make it unbearable below.
You don’t live here you just exist suffering the torture of noise daily of which there is no escaping unless you or your neighbour above go out, yay covid. The affect on your mental health is tremendous ie high stress and anxiety levels that cause you constant heartburn and the feelings hopelessness all the while paying for the privilege.
Believable in a property & with a housing association of such quality there are other issues which I wont go into here as I could create a tome longer than war and peace, this is already heavily edited to fit.
I made the first complaint 8+ years ago to the housing officer at my 6 month tenancy review to which he replied, 99 percent accurate as i can remember "dont say that it cost five thousand pounds to do the ceilings in these properties". The general consensus from above and below in this street is that West Kent are as much use as a chocolate tea pot, I’m being polite, anyhow complaint made, reply received on his merry way he went.
Fast forward 8 years and a number of emails later with no response other than an email twice to say that someone will be in contact in a specified timeframe, I still have copies of these. No contact was ever made, 2 phone numbers with accompanying voice mail or answer machine never called nor an email from an inquisitive person as to what the problem may be. That is until I made a polite comlaint on social media and would you believe it, I was contacted, once, by someone who was promised to contact before who knew nothing of my prior email appeals.
I recieved one phone call with apologies for the problems I had been having with no one contacting me and a promise to look into the issue by checking the sound report after the ceiling had been done, they would contact me again with what they had to say. Time passed with no contact so I chased up and again was met with apologies and the remark of “didn’t X person contact you regarding this” this is another of the original people meant to contact me, obviously they hadn't, why break a habit. I was told the report wasn't done , again some more looking into it and more promises of contact. Obviously no contact so again I chased up, more apologies and now the reoprt had been lost, forgive me for being a cynic but I smell pants on fire which makes me believe the ceiling lowering was for another purpose. Once again more promises of contact of which to this day has been none, so this depressing situation continues.
It appears the only way to get a response from a company is through shaming via social media or in this case a brief acknowledgement to only be forgotten again but I can guarantee with a housing association of such quality that if you had the misfortune of falling behind on rent or you withheld it due to the property being unfit for purpose, they would contact you frequently via phone or letter as though you were old penpals.
As you can see from what I have written from my personal experience that I would recommend West Kent as highly would a sane person an all inclusive execution by anti aircraft gun or mortar holiday to North Korea. West Kent truly are a shower of pig excrement.... Read more
